Governor’s Recognition Scholarship

What: The Governor’s Recognition Scholarship 500-word essay contest, hosted by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation, is accepting essays and applications for a 4-Year Florida College Plan Scholarship from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

When: Submit essays between September 4th and October 12th, 2012.

What Do I Need to Do: Answer the essay question "Choose one former Governor of Florida and describe his most significant impact on the Sunshine State and your life today."

Students must also describe their need for a scholarship and fill out a short questionnaire.

Who is Eligible: Stanley Tate Project STARS-eligible* seventh and eighth grade students in Dade, Holmes or Sumter counties can enter to win the Florida Prepaid College Foundation Scholarship. A student is STARS eligible if his or her family qualifies for the free or reduced lunch program. The winning student will also need to sign a contract with the Prepaid Foundation and agree to abide by STARS criteria. Student must agree to remain crime-free and drug-free.
